Project RS4 Update: A Rough Day at the Garage

Today wasn’t supposed to be dramatic—Project RS4 was only in the garage for routine work. Instead, I got the kind of phone call every car enthusiast dreads:

the mechanic crashed my car.

Yep. My pride and joy, my long-term RS4 build, ended up with damage to both the wing and the front bumper. Not exactly minor scuffs either—proper impact damage that’s going to need parts and paint.

The real headache?

These parts aren’t available new anymore.

For anyone familiar with older performance models, you’ll know the struggle: once OEM stock dries up, every replacement piece becomes a treasure hunt. So now begins the next chapter of Project RS4… but not the one I expected.

What’s Next?

I’ll need to start sourcing a replacement wing and front bumper, which means trawling breakers, owners’ groups, classifieds, and maybe even putting out a few desperate messages on forums. With cars like these, you never know where the right part will turn up—Germany, some forgotten warehouse, or a fellow enthusiast’s stash of spares.

It’s frustrating, sure, but that’s also part of the journey with a rare project car. Setbacks happen, and all you can do is keep moving forward. If anything, this episode adds a new layer to the story of Project RS4—one I’ll definitely remember, even if I’d rather not.

Stay tuned. The hunt for parts begins.
